Cathie Taylor started her martial arts training in 2003 as a way to relieve stress, stay fit, and spend time with her family. Mrs. Taylor is now a Second Dan Black Belt and an active tournament competitor. Like many instructors, Mrs. Taylor states that teaching has helped her perfect her techniques.

In August 2005, Mrs. Taylor, Mrs. Martha Brick, and Master Misty Hall joined together to prepare for the 2006 AAU National Championships. They received the Gold Medal for their performance of the form Sip Jin.
