Dr. Michael Tim is a full time pediatrician in private practice. Dr. Tim began his training in Tae Kwon Do shortly after his 40th birthday. In the year 2000, Dr. Tim was presented with a jacket by the Georgia AAU for the most competition points in his division. Dr. Tim says he enjoys his training in Tae Kwon Do because he is able to advance at his own pace and work within his own physical abilities. According to Dr. Tim, "being non-athletic has not prevented me from continuing. Now I have a 'tae kwon do family' that is important to me. I have enjoyed teaching because I am helping others like myself achieve a goal." Dr. Tim utilizes his experience, having begun his training as an adult, to help other adults. Dr. Tim also likes working with kids. "I enjoy watching the children's skills grow. It is really an extension of what I do on a daily basis in my office and other volunteer work." In 2003 and 2004, Dr. Tim organized the 24 Hour Fight-a-thon to help raise money for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. In 2003, the Fight-a-thon brought in over $9,000 -- over $2,000 of that was raised by Dr. Tim. In 2006, Dr. Tim continued his amazing efforts in helping others by organizing the Board Break-a-thon for the Special Needs Schools of Gwinnett. Of the $3,084 donated to the Special Needs Schools, Dr. Tim raised $1200!! Dr. Tim received the award for 2009 Georgia Martial Arts Ambassador from Master Minter and Master James Henry. |
